Here's the top transfer-related stories in Friday's newspapers...

Chelsea have held talks over signing Brazil striker Alexandre Pato as the club aim to boost their options up front this month. Interim manager Guus Hiddink has admitted Chelsea need greater attacking strength in depth following injuries to Loïc Rémy and Radamel Falcao, and Pato now hopes to complete a move to Stamford Bridge. (Daily Telegraph)
But Hiddink has been told he cannot sign Pato – or any other striker - for Chelsea unless Loic Remy is sold. (Daily Star)
Real Madrid plan the biggest spending spree in football history — despite a Fifa transfer ban. They want to splash an astonishing £250MILLION this summer, with £80m Eden Hazard their No.1 target. Sergio Aguero and David De Gea are also on their wish-list, plus Paul Pogba and Robert Lewandowski. The Spanish giants and neighbours Atletico Madrid were yesterday banned for breaking rules in the transfer of minors from abroad. But Real hope the Court of Arbitration for Sport will temporarily suspend the ban, allowing a summer splurge. (The Sun)
Newcastle are ready to make a £12million bid for Tottenham’s forgotten star Andros Townsend.Steve McClaren has been given the go ahead to spend again to beat the drop by owner Mike Ashley and Townsend is the next target. (The Sun)
Marseilles are close to re-signing Florian Thauvin, Newcastle United’s unsettled France winger, on loan for the rest of the season. (The Times)
Claudio Ranieri is ready to join the race for West Brom frontman Saido Berahino. The Leicester boss wants a new striker and has targeted Berahino, who is also being chased by Stoke, Tottenham, Chelsea and Newcastle. (Daily Mirror)
But West Brom are refusing to sell Berahino this month and have warned rival clubs not to waste their time putting in bids. (Daily Telegraph)
West Ham have not given up hope of signing Sam Byram from Leeds despite Everton already having a bid accepted. (Daily Express)
Liverpool and Tottenham are monitoring 20-year-old non-league sensation Yasin Ben El-Mhanni, who has just started a trial at Crystal Palace. The Lewes forward has impressed this season for the Ryman Premier League side and has been dubbed ‘the non-League Riyad Mahrez’. (Daily Mail)
